An experienced corporate governance professional has been appointed to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board as an independent director for an initial three-year term, according to international media reports. The term may be extended by a further three years.
Dr Ros C Rivaz will join the ICC Board, bringing extensive experience in senior leadership roles across global companies. She is currently chair of Anglian Water and serves as lead independent director at Aperam SA and Victrex plc, Europe-based materials science firms.
The ICC said her experience offers a broad perspective on strategy, risk and performance management. In a statement, it added that Rivaz has been an active board member throughout her career, with experience of site visits and stakeholder engagement across government, commercial and community sectors.
The board noted that her expertise in governance, corporate strategy and operational effectiveness is complemented by a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Rivaz has also been associated with several education and community initiatives, including supporting STEM education among young women through the Your Life campaign. She has previously chaired the Council of the University of Southampton and has worked with charities such as WaterAid.
“It is a privilege to join the ICC Board at such an exciting time for the sport,” Rivaz said. “Cricket continues to reach new audiences, inspire communities and strengthen its position as one of the world’s most influential global sports.”
She added that strong governance, long-term planning and inclusive decision-making would be central to supporting the game’s continued growth.
Former PepsiCo chair and chief executive Indra Nooyi previously served as the ICC’s first independent female director, appointed in 2018 following constitutional reforms aimed at strengthening governance and introducing greater independence within the organisation, according to international media reports.
