Gwalior Land Scam Reaches Court

GWALIOR: A fraud case has been registered in Gwalior after a person allegedly sold the same piece of land twice and collected money from a social welfare organisation despite having already transferred ownership to a real estate company, according to media reports.

Police said the dispute relates to a 0.690-hectare agricultural plot in Ghatigaon block. In 2010, a social organisation entered into an agreement to purchase a one-third share of the land and paid Rs 1.61 lakh through cash and cheque.

The organisation later applied for mutation of the land in its name. However, during the process, a developer company challenged the mutation before the revenue authorities, claiming ownership of the property.

A subsequent examination of revenue records and sale documents allegedly revealed that the land had already been sold and registered in favour of the developer before the second agreement was executed, according to media reports.

Investigators found that the land was jointly owned by three brothers and that the share involved in the agreement had allegedly been transferred earlier. Authorities said the buyer was not informed of the previous sale at the time of the transaction.

The complainant approached police, alleging cheating and concealment of facts. After no action was taken, the matter was taken to court.

Acting on the court’s directions, Kotwali police registered an FIR on charges of cheating and related offences. Officials said revenue and registration records dating back to 2010 are being examined, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused.
