Pune police have said that the accused in the case allegedly used coded language in their digital conversations before and after the incident.
Investigators suspect that Siya Goyal (20) and Chetan Chaudhary (22) were involved in a conspiracy related to the death of 25-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal, which occurred on June 18 at Lohagad Fort near Pune. He was initially believed to have died in an accidental fall, but later investigation pointed towards a possible murder.
Officials said mobile phone data suggests the use of “code words” in chats, which are now being decoded as part of the probe. According to media reports, a second mobile phone belonging to Siya Goyal has also been recovered and is under examination.
Police said forensic analysis of digital devices and chat records is ongoing to establish the sequence of events. Investigators believe questioning the accused is necessary to clarify the meaning of the alleged coded communication.
The prosecution had sought further custody to confront the accused with newly recovered digital evidence. However, the court rejected the plea and remanded both accused to judicial custody till July 16.
