MUMBAI: Nearly two decades after Awarapan, Awarapan 2 returns with action, emotion, music and nostalgia, bringing back Emraan Hashmi as Shivam Pandit.
The sequel continues the story of the original film while adding new characters, conflicts and twists. Hashmi’s character is portrayed as more intense and driven by pain, violence and the hope of finding love again.
The film features several action sequences, including hand-to-hand combat, while its music plays an important role in strengthening the emotional moments. Flashbacks connect the sequel with the first film, making familiarity with the original useful for viewers.
The story moves beyond romance, exploring crime, drugs, prison, police brutality and human trafficking. Supporting characters add further twists and keep the narrative moving. Disha Patani’s character also gets greater context as the story progresses.
The first half maintains an emotional and dramatic tone, while the second half introduces more twists before moving towards an emotional conclusion. However, the film feels stretched in parts, particularly in the middle. Some dialogues and one-liners work, but stronger writing could have given several scenes greater impact.
“The first half of the movie is good, but the second half feels stretched. Overall, the movie is an entertaining watch,” said Anupam Mishra.
Qaid Johar, who watched the film in a cinema hall, said, “The movie is average, but it is much better than Saiyaara.”
Overall, Awarapan 2 is likely to appeal to viewers who enjoy action dramas, emotional storytelling and nostalgia connected with 2000s Bollywood cinema.
