Bhopal police verification order issued under BNSS provisions
The Bhopal Police has issued a fresh verification order directing hotels, landlords, hostel operators and agencies to maintain detailed records of people staying or working under them.
The Bhopal police verification order was issued by Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
Officials said the order aims to strengthen security monitoring and ensure timely verification of tenants, domestic workers and temporary residents in the city.
“Hotel, lodge, dharamshala and resort operators must maintain complete records of guests and share details with the concerned police station,” the Commissioner said in the order.
Landlords must submit tenant details
Under the Bhopal police verification order, landlords who rent out houses or portions of property must submit tenant or paying guest details within one week.
The information has to be submitted either at the concerned police station or through the Madhya Pradesh Police Citizen Portal.
The order also states that details of existing tenants and domestic workers must be updated within 15 days from the date of issuance of the order.
Hotels, hostels and resorts directed to maintain records
Managers and owners of hotels, lodges, dharamshalas and resorts have been instructed to maintain complete guest records in registers and share details with local police as per prescribed procedures.
Hostel operators must also provide details of students staying in hostels to the concerned police stations.
Officials said the move is intended to improve identity verification and maintain updated local records.
Contractors and delivery workers also covered
The order further directs contractors and builders to provide details of labourers and workers engaged at construction sites.
Travel agencies must verify the identity of individuals before renting vehicles and keep copies of identity documents.
The instructions also apply to employees working at spas, massage centres and beauty parlours. Private security guards and staff involved in home delivery or courier services must also be registered with police authorities along with identity proof documents.
Order to remain effective for two months
According to the police commissioner’s office, the order will remain in force for the next two months from the date of issue.
Authorities warned that violation of the order could invite action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
