Complete wheat procurement by May 28, Bhopal commissioner tells officials

The Bhopal wheat procurement process must be completed by May 28 at all procurement centres, divisional commissioner Sanjeev Singh said during a review meeting held in Bhopal on Friday.

The weekly review meeting focused on wheat procurement, pending Chief Minister Helpline complaints, food safety measures and monsoon preparedness across the Bhopal division.

Reviewing the Bhopal wheat procurement drive, Singh said the state government had extended the deadline for procurement at the minimum support price (MSP) from May 23 to May 28. He directed officials to ensure smooth procurement operations and prevent inconvenience to farmers visiting centres.

Officials from the food and revenue departments attended the meeting and reviewed procurement arrangements in different districts of the division.

“Departments must work in coordination to improve public service delivery and strengthen the overall performance of the Bhopal division,” the commissioner said.

The commissioner also reviewed complaints pending for more than 100 days on the CM Helpline portal. He instructed departments to resolve complaints on priority and ensure satisfactory action in every case.

During the meeting, Singh stressed the need for strict action against food adulteration. He directed officials to conduct intensive inspection drives and initiate legal proceedings against those involved in the sale of adulterated food items.

The meeting also reviewed implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. Singh instructed officials of the Urban Development and Housing Department to form committees and ensure compliance with the rules.

Ahead of the monsoon season, the commissioner directed deputy commissioner Kiran Gupta to convene a joint meeting of all concerned departments.

He asked departments to review preparations related to waterlogging prevention, drain cleaning and disaster management measures before the onset of heavy rainfall.

Vinod Yadav and senior administrative officials also attended the meeting.
