BHOPAL: A parked car caught fire on Bhopal’s Kolar Road on Saturday afternoon, causing panic in the area as flames rapidly engulfed the vehicle near a residential complex and an electric vehicle charging station.
The incident occurred around 3.30 pm near the gate of Garden Residence, close to the Chunabhatti Rest House on Kolar Road. According to eyewitnesses, smoke was first seen billowing from the parked car before flames spread quickly, rising nearly 10 feet high.
A fire tender from the Kolar Fire Station reached the spot and brought the blaze under control. However, the vehicle was almost completely gutted by the time firefighters arrived.
Residents and passers-by feared a possible explosion as the fire broke out close to an EV charging station and a transformer. The area also witnessed brief chaos, with one side of the road temporarily blocked and a crowd gathering at the scene.
Eyewitnesses said the car’s tyres were burnt in the fire, while dense smoke spread across the stretch for some time.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Officials said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Factory, Warehouse Fires Trigger Panic in Indore
A major fire broke out at a plastic granule manufacturing factory on Dhar Road in Indore on Saturday morning, while another blaze was reported at a cotton scrap warehouse in the city’s Sanwer Road industrial area. Firefighters rushed to both locations and continued efforts to contain the flames for several hours.
Officials said the fire at the DU Drop Irrigation factory spread rapidly due to highly inflammable plastic material stored inside, sending thick black smoke across several kilometres. Seven fire tenders, a firefighting robot and heavy machinery were deployed at the site.
Authorities evacuated nearby areas as a precaution. No casualties were reported in either incident, while the exact cause of the fires is under investigation.
