BHOPAL: A parked car caught fire on Bhopal’s Kolar Road on Saturday afternoon, causing panic in the area as flames rapidly engulfed the vehicle near a residential complex and an electric vehicle charging station.
The incident occurred around 3.30 pm near the gate of Garden Residence, close to the Chunabhatti Rest House on Kolar Road. According to eyewitnesses, smoke was first seen billowing from the parked car before flames spread quickly, rising nearly 10 feet high.
A fire tender from the Kolar Fire Station reached the spot and brought the blaze under control. However, the vehicle was almost completely gutted by the time firefighters arrived.
Residents and passers-by feared a possible explosion as the fire broke out close to an EV charging station and a transformer. The area also witnessed brief chaos, with one side of the road temporarily blocked and a crowd gathering at the scene.
Eyewitnesses said the car’s tyres were burnt in the fire, while dense smoke spread across the stretch for some time.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Officials said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
