MP Minister Uses E-Scooter to Promote Fuel Conservation

BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar travelled to Vallabh Bhawan, the state secretariat in Bhopal, on an electric scooter on Tuesday, saying he was supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption and encourage cleaner transport practices.

Speaking to reporters, Tomar said the Prime Minister had urged citizens to minimise excessive use of petrol and diesel and adopt fuel-saving measures in daily life. He said the initiative was aimed at reducing fuel dependence and promoting environmentally responsible practices.

The minister clarified that the appeal was not about completely stopping the use of petrol or diesel vehicles, but about using fuel judiciously and considering alternatives such as electric vehicles wherever feasible.

Tomar also appealed to political parties and the public to support efforts related to fuel conservation and responsible energy use. He said small individual steps could contribute towards national interest and environmental protection.

The development comes amid growing public discussion around fuel conservation following the Prime Minister’s recent remarks on reducing unnecessary fuel consumption.

Separately, reports from Jabalpur said Madhya Pradesh High Court Justice D D Bansal travelled to court on a bicycle as a symbolic gesture promoting fuel conservation. Videos and photographs of the move circulated widely on social media.

Meanwhile, BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal also appealed to party workers and citizens to avoid unnecessary fuel consumption and adopt energy-saving practices in their daily lives.
