Prakash Tarun Pushkar incident leaves children unwell
Several children fell ill during a swimming session at Prakash Tarun Pushkar on Link Road No. 1 in Bhopal on Wednesday evening.
According to family members, around four children developed health complications while swimming, while two children complained of breathing difficulty. The affected children were rushed to Jai Prakash Hospital for medical treatment.
Officials said the children are currently out of danger.
Children complained of breathing difficulty during swimming
The incident took place around 5 pm when nearly 20 to 25 children were present at the swimming facility.
Sachin Jain said his 15-year-old daughter Aadhya Jain was also among the children present at the pool. He said children who were inside the water suddenly started feeling unwell.
Parents and staff immediately shifted the affected children to hospital, where doctors provided primary treatment and advised families to monitor the children for the next 24 hours.
Chlorine gas leak suspected at swimming facility
Manager Hemant Jariya said a chlorine gas leak from a pipe may have caused the problem.
According to him, chlorine gas spread in the air after a pipe malfunction, leading to coughing and breathing discomfort among children near the pool area.
He said the chlorine tank was replaced immediately after the leak was identified.
Officials at the facility said the situation was brought under control quickly and all children were evacuated safely.
Doctors advise monitoring after treatment
Doctors at Jai Prakash Hospital treated the children and later discharged them after their condition improved.
Family members said doctors advised them to keep the children under observation for at least 24 hours to monitor any delayed respiratory complications.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether a formal inquiry will be conducted into the incident.
