JABALPUR: The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday rejected the interim bail plea of former constable Saurabh Sharma, an accused in the alleged RTO corruption and money laundering case, denying his request for 60 days of temporary release.
The court had reserved its order after hearing arguments on Wednesday. Sharma sought interim bail on humanitarian grounds, citing his wife’s medical condition and the need to care for their two minor children.
According to the plea, his wife, Divya Tiwari, is scheduled to undergo surgery for a deviated nasal septum and chronic sinus-related complications. Sharma argued that his presence would be required during her recovery period.
The application also stated that the couple’s two children are fully dependent on their parents and that no other family member was available to look after them during the treatment and recovery process. The High Court declined to grant relief.
Sharma is one of the main accused in the alleged RTO corruption and money laundering case. His earlier applications for regular bail were rejected by both the trial court and the High Court.
In a previous order, the High Court cited evidence linked to alleged disproportionate assets, including property, 51 kg of gold and assets reportedly valued at more than Rs 108 crore, while rejecting his regular bail plea.
The latest ruling means Sharma will remain in judicial custody pending further proceedings in the case.
