Bhopal civic body removes stray cattle, clears encroachments across city

Bhopal civic body action continued across several parts of the city on Friday as the Bhopal Municipal Corporation removed stray cattle from roads and launched anti-encroachment operations in busy public areas. Officials also shifted animals to shelters and demolished illegal huts near Chetak Bridge.

Bhopal civic body action against stray cattle continues

Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Sanskriti Jain, teams from the Govardhan Project branch conducted a drive against stray cattle roaming on roads, footpaths and other public places.

During the operation, officials caught 17 stray animals and shifted them to cattle pounds. One injured or sick animal was sent to the Asara veterinary hospital for treatment. The municipal corporation also transferred 35 cattle to Swargiya Mithlesh Devi Gaushala from Shahjahanabad and Gandhi Nagar cattle shelters.

Officials said the drive aims to improve road safety, reduce traffic disruption and prevent accidents caused by stray animals on busy roads.

Encroachment drive conducted in several parts of Bhopal

The anti-encroachment wing of the municipal corporation also removed illegal structures and roadside obstructions from several areas across the city. Officials acted on complaints received through the CM Helpline, Mayor Helpline and routine monitoring operations.

The drive covered areas including Kolar D-Mart, MANIT Square, Nehru Nagar, Jawahar Chowk, Saraswati Nagar, Bhadbhada Square, Link Road areas, MP Nagar Zone-1, Shahpura, Ashoka Garden, Hamidia Road and Teela Jamalpura.

During the operation, teams removed handcarts, pan kiosks, temporary cabins, goods placed outside shops and vehicles obstructing traffic movement. Officials seized 16 handcarts, three pan parlours and 15 temporary cabins during the campaign. Two loading auto-rickshaws parked along the service road between Ashoka Garden and Prabhat Square were also removed.

The municipal corporation further assisted the district administration in demolishing 14 illegally built huts in the Gautam Nagar area near Chetak Bridge using JCB machines. Officials said enforcement drives against stray cattle and encroachments would continue across the city.
