Injured Tiger ‘Yuvraj’ Under Treatment at Bhopal’s Van Vihar

A male tiger named ‘Yuvraj’, which was seriously injured during a territorial fight at Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary in Dewas district, is receiving treatment at the rescue centre of Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal.

The tiger was rescued on June 27 and shifted to Van Vihar on the instructions of senior forest officials. A detailed medical examination was carried out on Friday by a team of veterinary experts from the State Animal Hospital in Jahangirabad and Van Vihar.

Doctors found deep injuries on both front legs and the left hind leg. X-ray examinations confirmed fractures in both front paws.

Veterinarians also treated a deep wound on the tiger’s left hind leg by giving six stitches. Officials said the animal is under continuous observation, and its treatment is being adjusted based on its recovery and health condition.

The medical team includes Dr S.K. Tumadia, Senior Veterinary Surgeon at the State Animal Hospital, Dr Atul Gupta, Senior Wildlife Health Officer at Van Vihar, and Dr Vineet, veterinarian at Van Vihar. Dr Gupta is closely monitoring the tiger’s recovery.

Van Vihar Director Vijay Kumar, Assistant Director Dr Ruhi Haq, and Safari In-charge Sita Kakodia were also present during the inspection.
