BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Jitu Patwari on Monday accused the BJP government in the state of administrative failure, claiming that public anger and growing dissent within the ruling party had exposed the administration’s “real report card”.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, Patwari said ministers were no longer being judged through closed-door review meetings, but through public resentment, dissatisfaction among MLAs and concerns emerging from within the government itself.
Referring to recent developments, Patwari alleged that issues related to the liquor trade and governance in Alirajpur had raised questions over administrative coordination and functioning. He also cited the water crisis in Indore, claiming that residents of the city recognised as the country’s first “Water Plus City” were facing acute shortages, prompting even BJP legislators to publicly express concern.
“This is not merely an allegation by the Opposition, but a reality emerging from within your own government,” Patwari said in the letter.
The Congress leader alleged that the state government was focused on publicity and review exercises while citizens continued to struggle with water scarcity, crime and unemployment.
He further claimed that the BJP-led administration had failed to maintain effective governance, leading to weakening public confidence in the system.
Patwari urged the Chief Minister to conduct a “real review” by engaging directly with farmers, women affected by water shortages, unemployed youth and citizens facing daily civic difficulties across the state.
