Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday reviewed the progress of key education and agriculture initiatives, directing officials to inaugurate 70 newly completed Sandipani schools by July 15 while expanding programmes aimed at improving farmers’ income and reducing farming costs.
During a review meeting at the state secretariat, the Chief Minister instructed the School Education and Tribal Affairs departments to make the inauguration of Sandipani schools a community celebration rather than a formal government event. He said students, parents, public representatives and local residents should actively participate in the programmes being organised under the ongoing School Chalein Abhiyan.
Dr Yadav said the events should include cultural performances, competitions and other student activities. He also directed officials to distribute a pocket book on Guru Sandipani to students to help them learn about India’s ancient education system, teacher-student traditions and moral values.
Officials informed the meeting that 70 Sandipani school buildings have been completed, including 46 under the School Education Department and 24 under the Tribal Affairs Department. The Chief Minister directed that all ready schools be inaugurated by July 15 in the presence of district ministers and local public representatives. He also asked every district to celebrate Guru Purnima on July 29 at one Sandipani school with science exhibitions, teacher felicitation, student innovation displays and demonstrations of digital and artificial intelligence (AI) projects.
In a separate review meeting on the Krishak Kalyan Varsh (Farmer Welfare Year), Dr Yadav said reducing farming costs and increasing farmers’ income should remain the government’s priority. He directed departments to organise direct outreach programmes with farmers from the state capital to village level to improve awareness of government schemes.
The Chief Minister also called for greater promotion of natural and organic farming, crop diversification and water-efficient crops. He directed officials to digitise cooperative society services and expand access to improved cattle breeds with support from private institutions.
Officials said an online Kisan Credit Card (KCC) portal and e-passbook facility for farmers will be launched this month. The government also plans to organise Balram Krishi Mahotsav in all districts, food festivals at divisional headquarters and several crop-specific events, including banana, vegetable, sugarcane, cotton and chilli festivals, along with workshops on horticulture, fisheries, poultry and stubble management.
