CM Mohan Yadav to Launch Rs 5,017 Crore Ujjain-Jaora Four-Lane Project

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will lay the foundation stone for the Rs 5,017 crore Ujjain-Jaora Greenfield Four-Lane Project on Friday, marking another major road infrastructure initiative in Madhya Pradesh. The project, spread over 98.73 km, will be built by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) and is expected to be completed within two years.

The new highway will pass through the assembly constituencies of Ujjain South, Ghatiya, Nagda-Khachrod, Alot and Jaora. Once completed, it is expected to directly benefit around 35 lakh people living in 62 villages along the corridor.

The Chief Minister said the project will provide Ujjain with faster and direct connectivity to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, making travel easier for residents, businesses and visitors. The road is also expected to play a key role during Simhastha 2028, improving access for pilgrims and tourists travelling from Rajasthan, Gujarat and other parts of the country.

The project includes the construction of a 98.73-km greenfield four-lane highway, three railway overbridges, nine major bridges, 26 medium bridges and 417 culverts. A service road has also been planned on both sides of the Jaora bypass, connecting the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway interchange with the Mhow-Nimach four-lane highway.

According to the state government, the project will improve road connectivity across the Malwa region and strengthen links with Indore and Bhopal. Better transport infrastructure is expected to reduce travel time, lower fuel consumption and improve road safety.

The government said the new corridor will also support industrial growth, trade and agriculture. Farmers are expected to get quicker access to agricultural markets, while improved connectivity is likely to attract logistics companies and fresh investment to the region.

Officials believe the highway will become one of Madhya Pradesh’s key infrastructure projects and contribute to long-term economic, industrial and social development across Malwa.
