Fake Railway Job Ads on Social Media: Bhopal Division Issues Warning

West Central Railway’s Bhopal Division has warned job seekers and parents to stay alert against fake railway recruitment advertisements circulating on social media.

The division said misleading posts are being used to cheat unemployed youth by promising railway jobs and asking for money.

The railway administration said all recruitment in Indian Railways is carried out only through the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC). Every selection follows a transparent process under the prescribed rules. There is no system of direct recruitment, appointment without an examination or hiring through any private agency.

The warning was issued under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Pankaj Tyagi after the division noticed several fake advertisements on different social media platforms. These posts falsely claim to offer railway jobs without examinations, direct joining, immediate appointments, government jobs with limited qualifications or guaranteed selection.

Officials said such advertisements often misuse the name and logo of Indian Railways or mention railway stations to appear genuine. However, they have no connection with Indian Railways or the Bhopal Division.

The division has advised candidates to verify every recruitment notice only through official railway sources before applying. It has also urged people not to pay money to any individual, organisation or agency claiming to arrange a railway job.

If anyone receives a suspicious recruitment advertisement or is approached by a person claiming to offer a railway job, they should immediately report the matter to the local police, the Cyber Crime Helpline (1930) or the concerned railway authorities. The division also asked people to report fake advertisements on the respective social media platforms.

Railway officials said authentic and updated recruitment information is available only on the official websites of Indian Railways, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC). They appealed to the public to rely only on authorised sources and remain alert against online recruitment fraud.
